Welcome to Meadowlark Fields Country House!
Located about 75 miles Southeast of Dallas, Texas
Known originally as the Brooks' house of Montalba, Texas; built in 1913, the house was picked up off its foundation and moved from its original site to the Peil's 50 acre farm near Athens, in 2004.
Amazingly the 3400 sq. ft. house was moved in six pieces ~ being cut down the middle, and the four dormers were removed by a crane.
Charles Shultz, Jr., House Mover, handled the whole process, and carefully reconstructed it once again.
Then the refurbishing began for us, taking about 3 & 1/2 years! We were able to save the original tiger oak mantle, most of the original wavey glass and woodwork, the old fur & pine floors were sanded and restained.
All systems have been updated to today's standards, including the ten tons of central heat and air. We have large porches, decks, & a wonderful wrap-around front porch.

Our 50 acre farm was known as the Goodman Dairy long ago, belonging to the late Dale and Wanda Goodman. Dale's family began the local Dairy back in the 1940's. The old 1930 hay barn and 1945 milkhouse still stand ~ making good subject matter for painters and artists!
